50 Ways To Cook a Turkey

Ok, maybe not 50 ways, but here are a few of our favorite ways to cook a turkey.

  1. One common way to cook the most moist turkey at home is with an oven bag.  All you have to do is put a little flour inside the bag (or grease with cooking spray), season the turkey as you normally would, slide the turkey in the bag, seal and cook! Don’t forget to cut a few slits in the bag so it doesn’t pop all over your oven!
  2. With the new Thermador steam and convection oven, you can steam cook a 14lb Turkey in 90 minutes.  Golden on the outside.  Moist on the inside.  Now you can sleep in early on Thanksgiving morning!
  3. Breville offers a great counter top oven that fits a 14lb turkey.  No more bending down and hurting your back putting that turkey in the oven.  You can bake it quicker with the convection oven setting or even air fry the turkey in the Smart Oven Air.  Want to impress your family and friends this Thanksgiving, here’s is a great recipe for “Air-Fried Turkey Breast with Maple Mustard Glaze”, by Blue Jean Chef.breville
  4. Some people love to deep fry their turkies especially down South.  Brine the turkey for 36 hours and then pop it in a deep fryer for a couple hours.  You can even use our Breville smart fryer if you want to fry up some turkey legs or a small turkey loaf.Screen Shot 2017-10-26 at 9.58.44 AM
  5. Searching online, we found some very unique options for your turkey.  Bacon-wrapped turkey seemed to be a favorite.  Who doesn’t like bacon!
  6. Another interesting technique is called beer can turkey.  It’s actually pretty easy and fun. Crack open a beer and pour a little in a cup. (This is to quench your thirst while preparing the turkey as well as to leave a little air inside the beer can.)  Season your turkey as you normally would, place the beer can in the middle of a disposable pan, place the turkey on top of the beer can and slide that bird into your smoker.  After an hour, baste your turkey with some of the juices in the pan and continue cooking for approximately a half an hour.
  7. Of course there is also the conventional oven-baked method.  To baste or not to baste remains an age-old question.

Whatever method you choose, we hope you enjoy your turkey and have a memorable dinner with family or friends!
