***Traeger Turkey grilling event November 16, 2019 from 10am-2pm***

With our new Traeger grills, many people have started smoking many of their meals, from fish to pizza to meat.  Thanksgiving dinner is right around the corner, and we knew people would be asking about the official bird of the holiday, turkey.  Yes, you can smoke a turkey and the results are delicious!  Your guests will be amazed at the moistest and most amazingly-flavored turkey that they have ever eaten!

The general rule of thumb is at 250 F/120 C, your turkey will take 25 to 30 minutes per pound to smoke.

It is very easy to smoke a turkey, but it’s not as simple as putting it in your Traeger and coming back in 6-7 hours.  It does take a “little” bit more effort.  You should be basting your turkey with broth every 30-45 minutes.  Have a thermometer placed in the thickest part of the turkey until it registers 165 degrees F.  You should also keep an eye on your pellet box to make sure you won’t run out of pellets.

Traeger makes turkey accessories for your Thanksgiving feast.  Their poultry rub and Turkey pellets will add a depth of flavor to your bird without a huge investment of effort.  The real-wood pellets are made from 100% all-natural hardwood with no binding agents or fillers, which will add an amazing wood-fired taste to your Thanksgiving turkey this year!
